about
With its infectious melody, emotional lyrics and expert production (Dan Cox, Urchin Studios) and creative mastering (Stephen Kerrison, Weird Jungle Collective), ‘Bizarre Blood’ showcases their signature sound; driving backbeats, rhythmic indie guitars and Emma’s bright and pure vocals.
Inspired by Emma’s childhood experiences, the lyrics tell the story through to adulthood. It explores the impact of a mental health disorder on a child and themes of anxiety, apprehension and isolation. Culminating in the declaration of the chorus, is it nature or nature and fear of inheriting the same disorder.
The genre of the song is indie rock/post punk, inspired by bands like the Editors and Florence and the Machine. Fans of Emma and the Fragments can expect more great music over 2023 as the band continues to push the boundaries of indie rock and explore new sounds and styles.
lyrics
Verse 1
Shellshocked adolescent, silent alarm bells
Trapped and isolated, unseen wounds fester
Pre chorus
Beneath the polite surface, anxiety and loneliness entwine
Chorus
Bizarre blood, runs thicker
Streams flood, fear flickers
Verse 2
Saviour of the world
Fighting the demons
Knows I don’t believe her
Committable behaviour
Adult independence, escape contagion
Running looking backwards
Did I hear whispers?
Pre chorus
Beneath the polite surface, reality and fantasy align
Chorus
Bizarre blood, runs thicker
Streams flood, fear flickers
Bridge
Delusions switch with mental decay
She blankly stares
She blankly stares
Delusions switch with mental decay
She blankly stares as I disintegrate
Chorus
Bizarre blood, runs thicker
Streams flood, fear flickers
Bizarre blood, runs deeper
Child’s love, the voices bicker
I disintegrate
I disintegrate
I disintegrate
